I was in B Co 44oth Sig Bn from 11/76-04/78. I created a 440th FB page and there is another for CFK. You can see photos and maybe link up with an old friend and also get some history on CFK and 440th.

I was stationed at Cambrai from January 1955 to December 1955. My unit was the 7811 Army Support Unit (ASU). We provided support to the field units that were stationed in the area. There were mostly Air Force Units at this post, as I remember. We called the US the "land of the round doorknob" as all of the doors had handles. I remember the living quarters were not bad, the food was OK, served by the Air Force and young german female waitresses. The weather was good, the area was interesting and very scenic. And being 20 miles from Frankfurt by train was a major advantage.

Was TDY to the Darmstadt area in 1965 working at the antenna fields in Griesheim - attached to I believe the 6901 Comm SQ. We were housed in Darmstadt at the Cafe Schneider and passed by CFK each day on our way to Griesheim. I am trying to locate the street name on which the Cafe was located. As I recall, it was on a corner lot, adjacent to a large park. I also remember a bakery we frequented across the street. Anybody have a clue?
